Pick up to four providers, choose how many mailboxes you need, and set your timeframe to see the real total. Many hosts offer introductory discounts that jump upon renewal, so second-year price hikes are factored in automatically.

How I work out the costs

• I use each provider's cheapest plan, usually paid yearly. Paying month by month often costs more.
• Where a provider charges less at first, I use that price for the first year (or the first term) and their normal price after it.
• Some providers don't say what they charge after the first year. I say so when that happens and use the first year's price, so the real cost is likely to be higher.
• Prices in dollars and euros are turned into pounds at a rough rate, so they will be a little out.
• Prices marked "plus VAT" leave out VAT. In the UK that's 20% more for most people.
• Prices can change at any time. Always check the provider's own website before you buy.
