Email provider news

I really hope Proton changes enough to make me return some day, but for now, I don't feel like Proton is for me anymore

Seeing all these posts about people canceling their subscriptions makes me wonder about the lifetime members. Since lifetime accounts (Inlcuding Proton Pass + SimpleLogin) are a one-time upfront buy, you can't exactly "vote with your wallet" anymore.

Been with proton for many years now but after Andy has shown us he doesn’t value security, I’m looking for a new home. All I need is to continue using email aliases and a VPN with port forwarding. Never used their drive (Linux user), nor their calendar, password manager, etc. What are my options?

It should be stated, the community’s issues are not with the employees of Proton, but with the management and its recent practices. The employees who are working hard, perhaps under less than ideal conditions, are not the target of this frustration. We have to be pro-consumer, but also pro-worker in our complaints.

I’m a little lost on what the exact problems are with Proton. I am a long-term subscriber to multiple products and I’m having no issues whatsoever If somebody could fill me in on what this recent drama is, I would really appreciate it.

If I drop down to free and enable email forwarding, will it stop working? Can't find anywhere if it says this feature is paid only.

Downvote me to hell if you will, I don't give a shit about the hivemind, but Proton is a great suite made of great products, and I don't give a fuck if the CEO has babies for breakfast and puppies for dinner. Andy Yen, you have my support. Bring a pussy CEO that fucks with the product and I will churn.

Andy Yen has become a liability for the future of Proton. His consistently controversial posts, lack of care while implementing AI, and his attitude towards employees is more than concerning. Proton is supposed to be a privacy and security focused company.

Mods don't want jokes and serious discussion.

Except for the VPN why would I pay for a thing I can do myself by paying one month in a twenty dollar subscription and post it for free with a different name? We love Proton because it's very confidential and secure but if anyone can create it for nothing it's more secure to have my information in my pc.

… still no Duo Support Come on. Please. I am paying and can‘t use Emails. If not fully Support native Mode, give us at least scaling.

I’ve used Mega file storage for years. I’ve always had a great experience. I recently migrated to Proton Drive to take advantage of bundle pricing, but after seeing how their idiotic CEO responds to security concerns I’m looking to cancel my account. It would be easy for me to go back to Mega.

" Your email address was exposed in a data breach." Um, ok. But the "source" is "unknown".how? ". We do not include any leaked personal information in this alert on purpose. To see the leaked information, go to Settings → Security and privacy → Dark Web Monitoring in our applications." This path doesn't exist on their…

As the sole signatory of the non-profit foundation that ultimately controls Proton, Antonio Gambardella needs to step up and rein in a CEO who thinks prioritizing security over rushed AI code is "loser thinking." Swiss registry documents show Gambardella (who is also the director of the state-supported FONGIT…

Didn't the username/e-mail and password used to be on the same page, and it wouldn't take you to a different one after putting in your username? I'm not a huge fan of it; it makes it less streamlined. Has anyone else got this yet?

I currently, for now, have a duo account and use Proton Pass hide-my-email aliases to sign in to different websites. I want to understand what happens to those aliases if I downgrade to the free plan.

I just wanted to remind my fellow Proton customers that they have a site for receiving and ranking user feedback. Please let them know what you think about their executives' obsession with AI.

If he believes that pushing AI down engineers’ throats and sacrificing the quality/security of Proton’s products is worth it. Yen no longer should be in charge, or anyone else that shares his sentiments.

I haven’t had my coffee yet, so bear with me, or don’t. Look, I get it. I went to business school, line go up > everything else. AI optimization, adapt or die, blah blah, etc. Everyone wants to be the next tech bro billionaire, I’m sure you’re the same Andy, hell, in your position I’d probably be doing the same thing.

Quite a few years ago, I created two separate Proton accounts. IIRC (but of course, I could be misremembering), I did this because at that time there wasn't a family plan that I could share. Does anyone know if I could change one account to a family account and add the other account's email addresses to it?

Changing the email client font on desktop app does not prevent name-spoofing / homoglyphs but it helps a bit with some characters. Appearance → Font family — switch to Atkinson Hyperlegible Note: This only fixes the same-font Latin vector; Cyrillic а vs a remains indistinguishable in any font that carries Cyrillic.
